This is great news and very well-deserved! The Sip Club really is at the heart of the community in Stretford and Stretford Uke is just one of MANY community events that happen there.
It was a slightly different format again this week, with no u-bass or projector. We set ourselves up around the big table as we did last week, with at TV at the end. Though this week, we turned the table around to create a bit more space around it. I think it worked pretty well apart from the glare from the sun. Next week we’ll try it again, but with the TV at the other end.
There was just one change to the songlist for the first session, with Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours being added to the list, on request. This was a new addition to the songbook too. We gave it a valiant attempt and it was going pretty well until we hit the bridge. Definitely one to simplify and practice I think!
In the second session we tackled a whole bunch of songs, including Billy O’Shea, Dancing Queen, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Friday I’m In Love, Hotel Yorba, I Fought the Law, Islands in the Stream, Paint It Black, Pistol Packin’ Momma, Please Mr. Postman, Psycho Killer, Que Sera Sera, Riptide, River Deep Mountain High, Space Oddity, Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch and Under The Boardwalk.
The songs newly added to the songbook Islands in the Stream, Riptide and River Deep Mountain High went down pretty well, so expect to see these these again. Que Sera Sera was a small attempt at a tribute to sad passing of Doris Day. I’d love to say we did it justice, but I think we need a few more attempts!
Hope to see you again next week! As ever, if you have any feedback or requests for the songbook or songlist, then please do get in touch!
